HYPERLOOP DESERT CAMPUS

The Hyperloop Desert Campus has been conceived as a manifesto of technology, innovation and sustainability. The speed inspiration coming from the most revolutionary mean of transport of recent times, the Hyperloop, it’s reflected on the fluidity of forms that evoques futurism, aerodynamics and speed.

One single building composed of two main parts, a circular building and a linear laboratory incorporating the test tunnel, is the representative image of innovation expressed by glass and metal. The entrance for the public and staff is made by underground, where the reception hall introduces the hyperloop to visitors and investors. The round shape of the building provides views for the desert, since the apartments until the pool, gym, offices and training center. The main vertical circulations are at the center, surrounded by a dry garden and water mirror. The restaurant at the top of the building offers 360 degrees views, including the north side where are disposed the arena and the linear laboratory with more than one hundred meters of lenght.

A sustainable approach is everywhere at the building. Photovoltaic panels were placed on the roof, generating clean energy from solar resource. This clean resource feeds the air conditioning in the climatized ambients, and thermal comfort are guaranteed by automatized brises protecting the façades from direct solar incidence, as at the same time as good entrance of natural lighting contributes to the energy economy. The smart manage of water works collecting water from the rare rains in the desert, and supporting the water demand at the building, including the water mirror, that keeps the water circulating to provide more comfort in terms of air humidity in this prevailing dry climate.
