The public architectural competition was sponsored by CODHAB (Federal District Housing Development Company), and aimed to choose the best Preliminary Study proposal for the construction of Public Equipment typified as Educational Center (CED). The project is a school of elementary and middle level that should attend the Crixa neighborhood in Sao Sebastiao Administrative Region, where are foreseen 3,120 housing units and an estimated population of 10,296 people.
AGA’s proposal was conceived in blocks intermediated by covered and uncovered courtyards that create spaces for interaction and social integration for students. The precast concrete structural system was adopted as it is a modular construction technique, of fast execution and low cost. The urban connections of the Educational Center aim to improve urban mobility and stimulate social life with creation of qualified spaces.
