AGA is awarded at Urban Essays Competition

Alexandre Gonçalves Architecture is one of the 10 winners of the Urban Essays Competition, which aims to bring together ideas to be potentially incorporated into the New Master Plan of São Paulo City. The project stands out for the proposition of mixed use blocks whose identity is revealed in the concept of “block as a drawing unit”.

The award-winning work in “Category 5 – Lots and Blocks of Large Dimensions”, explains the theme’s relevance. Although the road network forms the design of city’s layout, the blocks dimensions have greater repercussions in city life, determining the density, height and mass of buildings.

The AGA proposal creates normative parameters that allow public flow, social integration and urban density. This is done through the creation of mixed use blocks, which can bring housing closer to job offers, reducing commuting (the one that citizen does every day from home to work).

The office will receive a prize of 3,500 dollars.
