Located in Sao Sebastiao, a city on the north coast of São Paulo, the SS House takes advantage of the incredible landscape with views to the sea and Ilhabela. It is a tourist place marked by beautiful beaches, waterfalls, forests, and infrastructure composed of hotels, inns, restaurants, cafes.
The site destined for the residence’s construction has 304.30m². The corner lot has topography in slope with variation of 2.20m. The legislation determines frontal detachment of 4 meters, lateral and funds separation equal to 2 meters. The residence can be developed on two floors. However, it is possible to add underground level as long as the ground floor is at a maximum 2.20m above the terrain front level elevation. Considering the already existing cut in the ground, a underground level was implanted for garage 86 cm below the level of the front border, keeping the ground level at level 2.20m. Thus, the house has three floors of built area (underground + ground floor + 1st floor).
Defining the levels and accesses, we sought the orientation of social areas to the corner side, with views to the sea. So social living areas like living room, dining room, kitchen, TV room, can connect to the balconies, which extend the sensory experience with the climate of the coast, opening up to winds, sun, and the whole landscape surrounded by beautiful views of Ilhabela and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The intimate and service areas were located at the back and side of the lot. There are three suites, one of which has a luxurious spa on the balcony, with sea views. The three floors of the house are connected by a sculptural stair framed by the transparency of the glass. The formal concept of SS House is of pure forms and smooth lines, building spaces integrated by functional fluidity and material transparency.
